On the Boards :: Expanding Our Reach

Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS staff and partners are working hard on the design and special historic and zoning approvals for a number of innovative, mixed-use projects throughout the Washington Region and beyond. Together these urban projects include over 500 new residential units and provide street-front retail environments, live/work office space and rooftop amenities for new residents. We are excited to share the progress of five unique projects currently underway in our studio with several beginning construction in the next quarter.

Doubling Down in Petworth

Petworth is now home to two recently completed Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS condominium buildings for12 new households. The design of both buildings focuses on scale, rhythm, proportion, materiality, and density to ensure these modern insertions respect and fit seamlessly into their contexts.

Developing Success in the District

Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS hosted our second developer networking series, Developing Success in the District, led by McLean Mortgage team members, Chris Geier and Andy Stewart. On Wednesday, April 25th, over 60 members of the DC development community gathered in our office on the vibrant 14th Street Corridor to connect with colleagues over drinks and hors d’oeuvers, and to hear four distinguished panelists discuss a variety of relevant topics, trends, and best practices.

Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS’ Thought Leaders Take the Podium

In February, manufacturers, distributors, and masonry suppliers from around the country gathered in Charlotte, NC for the Brick Industry Association’s 2018 Brick Forum where Bill Bonstra, FAIA, was honored as Keynote Speaker.

In November, Jeremy Arnold, Rob McClennan, and Jack Devilbiss delivered a presentation in Richmond, VA at the 2017 Architecture Exchange East (ArchEx) on Retail Flexibility and Resilience.

Clarendon Connections

The story of the Ten at Clarendon spans seven years and three different building designs as CRC Companies LLC successfully aggregated empty buildings and lots along 10th Street North in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington. Stretching longer than a football field, the new five-story, 143-unit mixed-use building offers a mix of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments.
