MICHAEL CUTULLE, AIA
Project Architect
BSArch | University of Maryland
MArch | University of Houston
Hometown: Ellicott City, Maryland
Michael has over 15 years of experience working on a range of major projects from design through construction in the Washington DC area. Using BIM technology most of his career, Michael is a strong team leader collaborating with large teams of architects, engineers, and consultants to design and deliver exciting, complex projects.
Michael joined our team in the late spring, bringing his years of knowledge and experience to our 8676 Georgia Avenue Team. 8676 Georgia Avenue is a 28-story new mixed-used project in downtown Silver Spring featuring a retail facility on first floor, and a multi-family residential development with parking facility on the upper levels. The building comprises 495 residential units, amenities and 304 parking spaces.
The high-rise building comes down to the ground on the most important corner of the site, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Cameron Street, while a combination of façade articulation and various degrees of setbacks feature on the tower. The 20-ft tall ground floor, finished with contemporary window-wall system, allows street activation around it, and connects to the pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to it. Walking down Cameron Street takes one to the node at the corner of Cameron Street and Ramsey Avenue. The historic Tastee Diner car gets integrated respectfully to this architectural nymph and transformed to an urban outdoor area enjoyed by many.
B|HA Summer Internship 2024
AVERY JACKSON
Architectural Intern
BArch, expected 2025 | University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Hometown: Clarksburg, Maryland
Avery is a rising 5th year Bachelor of Architecture candidate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a minor in Urban Studies. She recently completed a summer semester abroad in Helsinki, Finland where she was able to further and deepen her passions for urban design, adaptive reuse, and the narrative and storytelling possibilities that architecture provides. Avery was the first place recipient of the AIA Middle Tennessee Student Scholarship for students in the 4th-year Design Integrations Studios at the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design. Growing up in Clarksburg, MD with a love for Washington, DC, Avery looks forward to completing a thesis next year and and is aiming to return to DC post-graduation as she develops her professional skills and works towards her licensure as an architect.
Avery joined our team at the beginning of summer in between her fourth and fifth years of her undergraduate degree. During her time on our team, Avery explored many facets of the architecture profession. From participating in site visits and taking measurements to participating in meetings with clients and developers, Avery was involved in projects at various levels of completion. She credits this internship to sharpening her drawing skills, as her work on marketing drawings for numerous projects were invaluable to our efforts and a great exercise for an architectural student. With the summer coming to an end and Avery returning to Knoxville for her final year at the University of Tennessee, we wish her the best in her future and look forward to all she will accomplish!
