The AIA 2024 Conference on Architecture and Design is right around the corner!
This year, the conference is in our hometown of Washington, D.C, from June 5th through June 8th.
As a firm, we will be taking part in three architectural tours throughout the convention ::
Pressing Need: Revitalizing Downtown Office Districts Through Adaptive Reuse

Discover how to be an innovator solving cities’ vacant office building crisis.
Major cities are grappling with empty office spaces, and the problem is only deepening. Experts say:
• As of March 2023, the national average vacancy rate of U.S. offices had climbed as high as 18.6%.
• By 2030, over 300 million sq. ft. of U.S. office spaces will be obsolete.
• Around 35% of U.S. workers who could work from home as of 2023 were already doing so.
This AIA Committee on Design tour will showcase three creative and successful office building conversion projects from D.C. experts.
This tour includes our award-winning office-to-residential conversion, Park + Ford, led by David Haresign, FAIA, and Ronnie Ali.
Exploring Architectural Evolution: Logan Circle & 14th Street

Discover the captivating narrative of Logan’s Circle, encompassing the storied past of two historic districts: the Logan Circle Historic District and the Fourteenth Street Historic District. Trace the transformation of this area from farmlands before the Civil War to the bustling hub of D.C.’s first “auto row,” boasting showrooms and garages, to its current status as a vibrant haven for artists and hipsters. From late Victorian splendor to the imposing Richardsonian style, from Romanesque grandeur to the cutting-edge designs of the twenty-first century, this tour offers a comprehensive exploration of architectural styles spanning centuries. As you wander through the streets brimming with historical buildings and intriguing anecdotes, the tour commences at Thomas Circle and showcases properties listed in the esteemed National Register of Historic Places, providing a unique opportunity to uncover the hidden gems and untold stories embedded within the architectural marvels of Logan Circle and 14th Street.

Industrial Heritage, Art & the Marketplace: NoMa & Union Market

Experience the rich history and dynamic rejuvenation of the NoMa neighborhood and Union Market District on this inspiring guided walking tour. Join us to delve into the evolution of NoMa, from its bustling industrial roots in the 1930s to its present-day fusion of heritage and modernity. Your journey will commence at the NoMa-Gallaudet U New York Ave Station, a pivotal point facilitating access to both NoMa and Union Market. As you stroll through the streets, you’ll pass roughly 20 landmarks, including a revitalized industrial marketplace, a vibrant food hall, diverse retail outlets, Gallaudet University, and iconic sites such as the gantry sculpture in Gentry Park—a striking testament to the area’s industrial heritage transformed into art.
