8676 Georgia Avenue is a 28-story new mixed-used project in downtown Silver Spring featuring a retail facility on first floor, and a multi-family residential development with parking facility on the upper levels. The building comprises 495 residential units, amenities and 304 parking spaces.
The high-rise building comes down to the ground on the most important corner of the site, at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Cameron Street, while a combination of façade articulation and various degrees of setbacks feature on the tower. The 20-ft tall ground floor, finished with contemporary window-wall system, allows street activation around it, and connects to the pedestrian sidewalks adjacent to it. Walking down Cameron Street takes one to the node at the corner of Cameron Street and Ramsey Avenue. The historic Tastee Diner car gets integrated respectfully to this architectural nymph and transformed to an urban outdoor area enjoyed by many.
The building takes advantage of exposures on all sides and provides an abundance of natural light, with most of the units enjoying private outdoor balconies, terraces, and floor to ceiling high glass bays. This not only yields light-filled residences with floor-to-ceiling windows in most units, but also provides stunning views of Silver Spring and DC skyline.
